The 2007 American Fine Wine Competition

In 2007, the inaugural American Fine Wine Competition (AFWC) was held in Boca Raton, Florida.

The following night's gala Dinner, which was held at the venerable Boca Raton Hotel & Resort Resort after the competition, allowed more than 400 guests to sample over 400 wines from around the United States. A silent auction before dinner and a charity auction afterwards generated over $180,000 for Kids in Distress and Home Safe.

The AFWC was the first juried wine competition ever held in South Florida with a threshold for wine prices as well as a specific criteria for the wines to enter.

A panel of 18 industry experts from around the country judged over 400 wines in two days to come up with the "best of the best" in American Fine Wines.

According to Monty Preiser, Publisher of the Preiser Key to Napa, "this will become one of the most prestigious wine competitions in the US."

Great wines, amazing food, and a luxury venue all combined to make this event a true world class function.

Press coverage for the event included radio and print, and the event made national wine industry news.  A fun event that not only benefited the community, but was a networking success for the attendees as well.

Community leaders from around the area were impressed both by the wine and food aspect of the event as well as their ability to meet other local businesses and organization leaders in a purely relaxed setting.
